Trails Update: August 9, 2024

Out of office reply

It was a short work week and I made it even shorter by staying home! I’ve been on staycation while the crew continues bridge replacements in A River Runs Through It. Michal found more wasps so be careful out there! You’ll need to figure out yourself if the attached photos are from work or play…

Hot topic: Fire

We’d like to ask all trail users to be more careful than usual in the woods. Wildfire crews are already fighting several fires in the coast mountains and with resources already stretched, we must absolutely avoid starting new blazes. Extra traffic and “curious Georges” hinder the most effective firefighting. Please stay away from areas where wildfires are raging (i.e. the Rutherford valley) or where crews are working/ tankers refilling (Green lake). Also: Campfires are currently banned in our region so please help spread the word or call in the professionals to deal with non conformers: In Whistler, report by calling 911. Outside of Whistler, call *5555 on a cell phone or 1-800-663-5555.

See you on the trails!
