Volunteer digging thanks!
Last Sunday was the last trail construction event before our summer break. I want to thank the enthusiastic diggers who joined us at 1 or 10 of this spring’s Flashback trail nights. Meter by meter, they worked the Cheakamus landscape and worked up an appetite that was ultimately satiated by our super volunteers… our amazing catering team! Trails director Ben, Sarah, Leanne, Jeff and Hannah have spent every Tuesday prepping and cooking for the whole squad! I can’t thank them enough for their efforts so I’ll try to embarrass myself by Haiku:
Hot soup in the night,
Candy and beer, Am I right?
A second bratwurst.
You might be asking yourself “When can I join in on this fun, and sample some tasty treats?” Our next volunteer dig day is on July 23 and sponsored by Trailforks. Sign up here!
Long rides with Chainsaw
After crossing T’s and dotting some I’s on Flashback this week (ONGOING) the crew was dispatched to far, far, far away trails just in time for the long weekend. We tackled one of the most challenging routes loaded with heavy packs, Zanarchy to Gargamel, and everyone made it out unscathed! And, at the other end of the experience spectrum, one of the most raw and remote routes, the Jane Lakes loop. Plenty of blood was donated there… to mosquitoes. While clearing deadfall was the main objective, we also concocted maintenance plans for those trails to be performed when the huckleberries are ripe!
See you on the trails!
