Trail Work Update: 7 July 2017
[heading]Trail Work Update: 7 July 2017[/heading]Comfortably Numb: "Why are you doing that?" ~ curious cyclistRepairing trails at the height of dry season can seem pointless... The duff sections (where a trail was only "ridden-in") are bone dry and feel solid. Comfortably numb, in its 20+km glory, was mostly ridden-in. The work we do aims to improve the riding experience and protect the trail (and surroundings) for wetter times: for when that duff becomes unpleasant black muck. We anticipate where water will pool, then we improve the drainage, armour or elevate the trail. We also take the opportunity to "choke" the trail by returning wide sections to the forest and leaving only single-track. Renovations are challenging and fun.One of the stringers of the viewpoint bridge on "Foreplay" broke over the winter. You probably didn't notice anything as you raced though in this week's Toonie: We disassembled it, replaced the broken stringers and managed to re-use all the decking!Have you tried the new epic loop in Squamish? 1,100m of climbing sounds like perfect training while we wait for more snow to melt up on Sproatt...[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id="3" gal_title="Trail Work Update: 7 July 2017"]
