Alpine Sproatt Trail
I'm undergoing a little bit of Sproatt withdrawal now that the Squirrel crew is back in the valley, but having the opportunity to ride my bike after work is helping! While rediscovering the valley bottom, it was easy to (not) see that some trails needed a trim.Raph and I did some corridor trimming on Rockwork Orange > Korova Milkbar > Wizard to improve the sight lines (and not get poked in the eye) with a little armouring of the crux moves. We smashed some of the pedal catching rocks on hotdog alley and brushcut the Hotdog, Beaver pond and Lower sproatt (opening up some passing lanes for the Westside Wheel Up!)We also had the opportunity to help Zander and Andrew in the bottomless duff at Jane lakes.[huge_it_gallery id="13"]
Trail Maintenance in Whistler Valley
This week we are pleased to say that we completed our work for the season on the Jane Lakes trail segment that goes from Black Tusk Microwave road to East Jane. The trail has been brush cut, re-routed and refined to allow hikers and bikers to enjoy the same low angle trail in this truly majestic area. We also rebuilt the bridging all along this section of trail to allow for safer travel in wet conditions. Work will continue next year on the remainder of the trail not recommended for biking currently due to the fact that the trail is very overgrown awkward and hard to follow in places. This coming week we are going to be heading back into Industrial Waste to finish it off with the help of a couple volunteer trail building sessions.
