Trails Update: Apr 24, 2020

Got the band back together!

The WORCA trail crew hit the trails this week keen to make a difference. Benoit, Renee, Pat and I (Dan) are back at it to play a short (but intense) set of all of your favorite hits: rock puzzles and cedar work! We’re trying to avoid going viral, so expect more long “solos” (work) and please respect the artist’s personal space! (we will close trails when working in fast or tight sections). The trail crew will be focussing on Major (key) trail repairs and Allegro (urgent) issues this spring while a virtual orchestra (volunteers) “rakes and reports” from all over the network.

Cut Yer Blues

This village-adjacent maze of trails is more popular than ever with all levels of riders. It’s been a goal of mine to spruce up the intermediate experience in there.

RANT DISCLAIMER: the WORCA trail crew did not cut any trees for which CUT YER BARS was named. Whoever did this showed poor judgement and WORCA discourages any volunteer trail modifications. END RANT.

The classic blue descent was looking more like a bike park trail covered in brake ruts and deep holes so we smoothed it out back to its former glory. Linking Robin Yer Eggs! To Cut Yer Bars Blue also needed some tread work.

Bonus for advanced riders: We upgraded the Slabs line skinnie.

Rock beats Paper again!

Huge shout-out to Ken Melamed, Dwayne MacIntosh and Les Harasimowicz for taking on a volunteer stonework project of Herculean proportions! The new boulder crossing on Trash replaces a failed dimensional lumber structure built in 2009. They placed and shifted and even cut through some BIG, HEAVY rocks. Worth checking out now that all the lowland Cheakamus trails are clear of snow.

Check and update Trailforks!

See you on the trails!
