Trails Update: Aug 22, 2019

Uncovering trails

We fired up the brush saws this week to fight back the weeds (and berries) growing under the powerlines all over the west side. It was a hot prickly mess! It’s not what I would call glamorous, “instagrammable” trail work, so I skipped the photographic evidence…Did we miss any sections? Please use Trailforks to report overgrown trails.

DFX dig day

Once again, the Whistler-Blackcomb DFX kids joined the trail crew for a few hours of heavy digging: extending “Cherry on Top” with more singletrack. 15 riders and coaches put tools to the ground de-duffing most of the new road-skipping section.

Special shout out goes to Finn from Courtney who spent the whole day supporting our crew! Next week, The WORCA camps riders will also dig there...

Trail nights are back!

I dislike leaving a project unfinished for too long… So we’ll focus on the Lower Sproatt “Dessert Platter” for the first 3 weeks of the fall Tuesday Dig Nights.

As the evenings get shorter, our fall trail nights become more of a sprint than marathon. This is also my favorite pre-snow training!

Sept 3rd will be sponsored by Brent Harley & Associates and Olive’s Community Market. We’ll be finishing the Cherry on Top segment!

Meet us at the Stonebridge end of Lower Sproatt (across from Danimal north) at 5:30pm.We’ll hike or bike in from there (1km from the road)Dress for the weather… and the potentially chilly apres!

See you on the trails!
