Trails Update: May 13, 2022
Spring is for the birds… and tool noises
Volunteer efforts are ON for the season! Tuesday Dig Nights got underway last week on Flashback 3. Santa Cruz bikes supported a great kickoff event. Remember that all participants need to sign up so that we can plan appropriate food and drink.
At the other end of the valley, Whistler Secondary School volunteers were hustling to get Up Shit Creek ready for tires. Trail signs are forthcoming btw…
Their efforts paid off, greatly improving southern access to the No Flow zone!
Spring showers
WORCA would like to thank Whistler-Blackcomb’s Epic Promise program for donating rain gear for our trail crew! We’re digging bright and dry in top-of-the-line North Face and Burton AK recycled uniforms.
We got the new outfits muddy in a flash: tackling water damage and bridge alignments on Hi Hi and Flashback 2 (the section completed last year).
Running with scissors
I get a lot of satisfaction from clearing deadfall on the trail… alas it looks like Pat (trailgnome16) and the Chief Stick Officer (Ben-Hryciw) are having most of the fun out there. It’s strange and difficult to appreciate what isn’t there when you ride unimpeded the full length of a trail. So here’s a shoutout to the heroes who ride with saws.
See you on the trails!
