Trails Update: September 9th, 2023
High traffic
We spent this short work week completing more critical upgrades of wooden features in the north section of A River Runs Through It.
“Why!?! Nobody rides that anymore”... I beg to differ.
It has been the most crowded trail we’ve worked on all season! Riders were grateful for the refreshed (safer) bridges and many encouraged us to add more optional features.
I’m a big fan of elevated features so it won’t take a lot of arm twisting to make their wish come true! We’ll make sure that the current optional lines are up to snuff before adding to the experience…
If you don’t know knots, tie lots!
Across the road, there was one last project left to complete on Get Over It: propper railings for the high creek crossing. The previous rope set-up was so low that it looked more like “fall enhancer” than fall protection.... We used leftover cedar from last week’s projects to raise the rope lines. We also installed some wider decking and improved the approach for good measure. I have many tricks up my sleeve for improvised carpentry but I needed to re-invent the wheel when it came to securing the ropes. It made me miss Adam (he went back to university) for his internet tutorial savviness. Strangely, as soon as I opened youtube after work, the first video suggested was a knot tying tutorial!
Ps: see why burning pallets in the middle of a trail is a bad idea in the photos
See you on the trails!
