Trails Update: November 3rd, 2023
Chilly!
Mornings have been crisp with frozen puddles and even hoar frost pushing up crunchy moss. That didn’t stop the WORCA team from digging a little deeper, to literally get to the root of the problem(s) on the Hindsight trail. Our goal was to bring the trail back to its original smoothness and that involved handling a lot of cold rocks. We armored holes, raised the tread back up, and emphasized some of the little jumps. Further down, we finally completed a project started 2 years ago to raise the trail out of the seasonal pond (a really big puddle).
Windy!
The storm that pushed through Whistler late last week really packed a punch. Michal B and Vera spent the week clearing deadfall messes all over the valley. They got some help from Ben (and the “Chief Stick Officer”) who cleared the No-Flow Zone and Tim (with Captain) who managed to clear most of the Wedge Zone. Thank you so much for your elbow grease and thanks to the Trailforks community for the precise reporting: your photos and locations are crucial.
Quiet(er)!
As the days get shorter so does the size of the trail crew(?). We’re down a few more members that are now chasing snow or chasing gelato. Many hands make lighter work and I want to thank Renee, Nick, Reilly, David and Jacob for joining in the heavy lifting that goes into maintaining our sweet network. You should be proud of the work you did and I hope you savour each section as you ride over them.
See you on the trails
